If you love the outdoors, you are really going to love Ontario County. With four distinct seasons and a diverse geography, you will never run out of ways to connect with nature.

Hiking can happen just about any time of year, thanks to trails that offer a wide variety of distance, terrain, views and levels of difficulty. Biking and motorcycling are also a huge part of recreation, thanks to our vast network of country roads and byways. Of course, there are plenty of cyclists who take upon the challenge of riding around the lakes.

The five Finger Lakes in Ontario County offer a plethora of opportunities for swimming, sailing, paddling, fishing or watersports in the warm weather. Even in winter, you can walk on the lake and ice fish. Hunting is also a popular way to convene with the great outdoors.

Hit the links with almost a dozen golf courses throughout the county.

Or challenge yourself with the Musselman triathlon, a marathon at one of the many athletic events held throughout the year.

Bristol Mountain Winter Resort has a 1,200 foot vertical rise, the largest between the Rocky Mountain and the Adirondacks, making it the premier Finger Lakes destination for alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding. With the arrival of Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures and Zipline Canopy Tour, you can experience the mountain in a totally different yet equally exhilarating way.

Roseland Wake Park is the only cable wakeboard park of its kind in the Northeast. It’s right next door to Roseland Waterpark.
The great indoors is also worth exploring in Ontario County. Many downtown communities such as Canandaigua and Clifton Springs have a wide variety of unique shops, boutiques, galleries, and antique stores. Or go to one of the best shopping destinations in western New York, Eastview Mall.
